  • The Battle of Moaning Gorge
Ndulu's army is met by the great-grandsons of King Sarshel Elethlim and the Order of the Triad at the mouth of a gorge that leads deep into the Earthspurs, just outside the gates of the Citadel of Conjurers. Employing three shields - Kimeltaar, Naelotaar, and Dizeltaar - and the sword Demonbane (although the Greatsword of Impiltur is not found), the Paladin Princes form a vortex portal and through it drive Ndulu and his horde back into the Abyss. In his final act, Ndulu shatters two of the shields, Naelotaar and Dizeltaar, and their bearers, Crown Prince Essys and Prince Araln. Nord, the youngest of the three, is named crown prince and heir to the throne of Impiltur.

In his wake, the balor left the Moaning Crown of Ndulu (made from the released crown-wraiths that were released from the shattered Crown of Narfell), for it could not pass beyond this plane. Recognizing the Crown as the fell echo of the Crown of Narfell, but unable to destroy it, Prince Nord secretly carries it (using the blade Felthann's ghost touch ability to manipulate it) to the depths of the Citadel of Conjurers and places it amid the other Narfelli artifacts that lay therein.

Crown Prince Essys and Prince Araln are slain in the fighting. Nord, the youngest of the three, is named crown prince and heir to the throne. »

In battle, Kane personally defeats the Grandfather of Assassins.

Kane (at the time the Master of Spring) is called back to the Monastery of the Yellow Rose after the death of Grand Master Poke. Kane declines to take Master Poke's position, but must stay to train the new Grand Master, Cantoule when Temmenische also declines the position.

The rest of the adventuring companions return from an expidition to the Abyss, having stolen the Wand of Orcus, shattered it in the blood of an avatar of Tiamat (checking her plans once again), and returned to Damara with the blessing of Bahamut. Gareth brought with him the Tree-Gem, which once planted, represented Bahamut's covenant to protect Damara against the influence of demons as long as the kingdom of Damara allied itself with the forces of good. With the planting of the Tree-Gem, Bahamut regains his status as a true deity.

With the destruction of Wand of Orcus, Zhengyi loses his power over the undead and his castle (Castle Perilous) crumbles. Zhengyi is destroyed and the second war between Damara and Vaasa ends. »
