  • Two dwarven scouts exploring the Underdark near Chessenta meets the human Urabbastrar Tholokh who was in possession of the Crown of the Mountain. Urabbastrar was using the Crown to carve out large storage cellars. Horrified at the thoughtless excavation, the dwarves agree to steal the Crown. Urabbastrar escapes into the underdark but is slain by a swarm of carrion crawlers. The dwarves flee, and when they return a few days later, they found no trace of Urabbastrar or the Crown. »

  • Human fisherfolk, mostly from Chessenta and the Wizards' Reach, begin to settle Aglarond's northern coasts in numbers. The human settlements of Velprintalar, Corth, and Ingdal's Arm are founded. »

  • A Chessentan mage, Tashara of the Seven Skulls, slays the five beholders of the Ring of Eyes and scatters their human lackeys. »

  • 929 DR [Year of Flashing Eyes]
  • Several Chessentan cities form an alliance under the leadership of the dragon-in-disguise Tchazzar and secede from Unther. The Alliance of Chessenta drives Unther back beyond the Riders of the Sky Mountains. »

  • 953 DR [Year of the Guiding Crow]
  • Tchazzar of Chessenta conquers the cities of the Wizards' Reach, causing the fall of the League of Samathar. Tholeam II Demaz, king of Velprin is slain in these fights. Various cities are conquered by Tzchazzar or make a separate peace with the warlord, becoming tributary states, including Ashtar "the Craven" Demaz, who becomes the new king of Velprin. »

  • Rondyl Darusk meets a bloody end at the hands of the "Bandit Wizard" of Chondath, a brigand harrying between the Vilhon and the lands of Chessenta and Mulhorand. The Leaves of Green (artifact of Silvanus) is lost. »

  • Hallarn I "Elfblade" Demaz becomes king of Velprin with the death of his father, Samar II. His reign sees continued raiding and skirmishes with the elves of the Yuirwood and independence from Chessenta. »

  • King Tchazzar of Chessenta (actually a red dragon in human guise) disappears while fighting the sahuagin of the Alamber Sea. His people believe him ascended to godhood, since his body is not found.
    This event begins Tchazzars ascendence to divinity. »

  • 1117 DR [Year of the Twelverule]
  • Chessenta begins to break up into rival city-states.
    As a result, the Wizards' Reach cities regain their independence from Chessenta. »

  • 1150 DR [Year of the Scourage]
  • Chondath regains power (including regaining control of Hlath), lending its considerable mercenary power to foreign conflicts, most noticeably the internal struggle in Chessenta »

  • 1161 DR [Year of the Quiet Earth]
  • In Chessenta, the Karanok Clan takes over as the Lords of Luthcheq under suspicious circumstances. Although all records of the events have been destroyed, it is likely that assassination was involved, since no known descendants of the old noble family survive today. »

  • 1257 DR [Year of the Killing Wave]
  • The aarakocra civilization in the Riders in the Sky Mountains are driven to extinction by Chessentan mercenaries hunting for sport. »

  • 1311 DR [Year of the Fist]
  • Rezim becomes vizier of Mulhorand. He begins to persecute the church of Anhur. Chessentan mercenaries replace Anhur worshippers as guards of the city. »

  • 1312 DR [Year of the Griffon]
  • The Helm of Helm is offered for sale in Westgate. A Helmite priest tried to buy it and is refused by the Chessentan merchant whose shop held it. The priest returns with twice the asking price - only to be slaughtered by the Lawless, a sect of Shar, who had obviously set the shop up as a lure for clergy they opposed. (They killed a priest of Torm a day later, and sorely wounded several clergy of Ilmater).

    Clergy of several faiths hurried meet and hire an adventuring band, the South Shore Serpents, to hunt down the Lawless. It soon becomes clear, as the city erupts into battle, that someone high in authority was shielding or backing the Lawless, and the Helm had become just one more piece in the ongoing struggle for rule of Westgate. The Serpents fell one by one, taking the Lawless with them, but thieving bands and street mercenaries entered the fray, and the strife continued.

    A young Helmite priest, Carath of Selgaunt, hires the Wild Blade Adventurers of Teziir to slay the Chessentan and bring back all the contents of his shop they could salvage. The Blades are led by two sisters whose magecraft was growing speedily, and they use spells to summon monster after monster. They then loot the ruins only to find themselves under attack by agents of Thay, who had been waiting for a good chance to seize the Helm.

    In the struggle that follows, the senior Thayan mage is forced to flee, and the Blades reduced to one warrior and one of the sisters, Tayana, who is trapped in a curse laid by her Red Wizard opposite that forces her to shape change into a giant hissing serpent several times each day. Fearing she would be slain by fearful citizens, she flees into the wilderlands with the Helm and with her surviving companion, who soon dies of her wounds. Embittered, Tayana hides in the Giant's Run Mountains. »

  • 1317 DR [Year of the Wandering Wyrm]
  • 1317 DR to 1323 DR
    The Dragon Plague sweeps through the Vilhon Reach. There it is known as the Plague of Dragons due to its visible effect of causing the skin to flake and the induced madness.
    The plague also takes a huge toll in Chessenta and Unther (not ending there until 1324 DR).

    Tsurlagol declares a quarantine against the plague. »

  • 1322 DR [Year of Lurking Death]
  • The blue dragon Alasklerbanbostos, now a dracolich called the Great Bone Wyrm, emerges from the Riders of the Sky Mountains and spends the summer terrorizing and raiding Chessenta and Unther. »

  • The Magsiter Maldiglas Turntower devoures his own lifeforce constructing his magical refuges (the location of one has been revealed at every Magefair since his death).

    Azuth offers the office of Magister to the mage Phelarnden Ghemelt of Tharsult.

    Phelarnden reigns as Magister for four months (his time as Magsiter ends this year).

    The Chessentan archmage Maxliadanarr Torstren becomes Magister. He begins a breeding program to create sorcerous familes, known as the Incipient Clans. »
