The armies of Ebenfar destroy the city of SS'thar'tiss'ssun, cloak its ruins in powerful warding spells, and scatter the serpentfolk of Najara. Terpenzi leads its remaining armies into battle with the Shadowking, but is destroyed. The battlefield becomes known as the Fields of the Dead. »

  • After thirty-five years of expansion under King Ashar, Valashar (and the Shoon Empire) stretches as far north as the Troll Mountains and the High Moor by summer. Responding to the claim of northern lands by King Ashar and the expansion toward Cormyr's western border, Crown Prince Azoun I mounts a bold campaign that swiftly crushes Valashar's armies on the Fields of the Dead and drives the Shoonite forces back through Amn, Tethyr and Valashar before sacking Ithmong and other garrisons along the way. The Shoon Empire's borders shrink back to the Giant's Run Mountains, and Lord Tornamn is exacuted. »

  • 1212 DR [Year of Ocean's Wrath]
  • Unchartered adventurers explore the Fields of the Dead north of Elturel found a tomb beneath the Hill of the Headless Dancer. They speculated that the dancing zombie for whom the hill was named was Falaera, animated by whoever had populated the tomb with guardian undead. The Flame of the Spirit is set into a door, its base protruding to form the door handle (so as to burn all non-Tymorans who try to open the door). The door led only to a string of traps, but the rest of the tomb, hidden beyond a concealed door, is furnished as the abode of a wizard - an absent wizard who presumably had met with misfortune while away from home, and would never return. The adventurers took the Flame away in a coffer and sold it to a gem merchant in Iriaebor, not bothering to warn him of its properties. He disappears within a tenday. »

  • The School of Wonder is destroyed by tanar'ri and power-mad students after four long-forgotten Demonshields are recovered from an ancient barrow in the Fields of the Dead and brought back to the School of Wonder for study. »
