  • Blingdenstone, a deep gnome community, is founded in the North Underdark by svirfneblin fleeing phaerimm expansion. The deep gnomes establish their settlement despite its close proximity to Menzoberranzan, lured by the rich veins of arandur (a metal that holds its sharpness particularly well), iron and rubies. »

  • 737 DR [Year of the Purple Wyrm]

  • Warned by Vhaeraun, the Chaulssinyr withdraw into the Plane of Shadow. Days later, drow invaders from Menzoberranzan find the city abandoned and are forced to retreat "victories" in the face of constant attack by monsters from the Plane of Shadow. The Chaulssinyr found the Shadow City of Chaul'mur'ssin on the Plane of Shadow. »

  • 1297 DR [Year of the Singing Skull]

  • The son of Malice and Zaknafein Do'Urden, Drizzt of House Daermon Na'Shezbaeron, is born in Menzoberranzan. Using the power of the birth of Drizzt, his mother Malice was able to create a spell capable of defeating House Devir, and as a result House Do'Urden becomes the Ninth House of Menzoberranzan. »

  • 1328 DR [Year of the Adder]

  • Drizzt Do'Urden flees from his homeland of Menzoberranzan with Guenhwyvar (whom he takes from Masoj Hunnet after defeating him in battle). Drizzt survives the next ten years of self-imposed exile in the Underdark by embracing a more savage side of his psyche he calls "The Hunter". »

  • 1357 DR [Year of the Prince]

  • Lady Alustriel forges an alliance with Bruenor Battlehammer of Mithril Hall and helps defend the dwarf halls against the drow of Menzoberranzan led by House Baenre. »

  • 1358 DR [Year of Shadows]

  • House Oblodra of Menzoberranzan, its psionic power unaffected by the disruption in magic caused by the Time of Troubles, attempts to seize control of Menzoberranzan. With the help of Lolth (through the balor Errtu and the demons under his control) and Bregain D'aerthe, House Baenre destroys House Oblodra. »

  • Artemis Entreri, disguised as Regis, arrives at Mithral Hall. Together with Drizz't's sister, Vierna (now calling herself Noamuth Lil), Dinin Do'Urden (turned into a drider by her sister Vierna), Jarlaxle and members of his Bregan D'aerthe mercenaries, Artemis Entreri try and capture Drizz't. Artemis and Drizzt fight. Artemis is defeated and left to die, but is rescued by Jarlaxle. Wulfgar appearently dies fighting a yochlol summoned by Vierna, but is actually taken to the abyss, and the clutches of Lolth herself. Vierna is killed by Drizzt.

    After rescuing the assassin Artemis Entreri, Jarlaxle takes Artemis to the drow city of Menzoberranzan. Drizzt enters the drow city (after visiting the svirfneblin city of Blingdenstone and his old friend Belwar Dissengulp) to determine what their intentions are. Catti-brie follows Drizzt. After defeating Dantrag Baenre, Catti-brie takes Khazid'hea from the fallen Dantrag. Catti-brie causes a stalagtite to fall on the main cathedral to Lolth. Artemis joins the two when escaping the drow city. »

  • Battle of Keeper's Dale
    House Baenre leads an army of drow, goblins, and kobolds out of Menzoberranzen to attack the dwarves of Mithral Hall. The dwarves are aided by svirfneblin, local barbarians, troops from Nesme and Silverymoon, and even the mysterious Harpells of Longsaddle and Lady Alustriel herself (including the Companions of the Hall, Drizz't Do"Urden, Catti-brie, Wulfgar, and Regis). The drow are ultimately defeated and driven back to their homeland.

    In this battle, the matron of House Baenre is killed by Bruenor Battlehammer, just as all magic in Faerun goes wild with the start of the Time of Troubles. With the matrons death, the spirit of Gandalug Battlehammer (who's spirit was magically trapped in a magical item), First king of Mythral Hall is returned to life. »

  • 1362 DR [Year of the Helm]

  • King Bruenor Battlehammer abdicates his throne in favor of Gandalug Battlehammer, First King of Mithral Hall, saved from the clutches of House Baenre of Menzoberranzan four years previously. Gandalug is now both First and Ninth King of Mithral Hall. »

  • 1371 DR [Year of the Unstrung Harp]

  • At the command of Triel Baenre of Menzoberranzan, the svirfneblin city of Blingdenstone is destroyed. »

  • 1372 DR [Year of Wild Magic]

  • Eleasis 28 Lolth falls silent, denying her followers divine magic. She separates her Demonweb Pits from the Abyss and begins to transform herself into a greater goddess. The Jaezred Chaulssin take advantage of the situation, launching attacks on drow-ruled cities throughout the Underdark. By year's end, thanks to their machinations, Menzoberranzan has nearly fallen, Ched Nasad is destroyed, Eryndlyn falls to followers Ghaunadaur and Vhaeraun, and Maerimydra falls (unexpectedly) to followers of Kiaransalee. Smaller strikes in Dusklyngh, Jhachalkyn, and Karsoluthiyl weaken the hold the ruling Matron Mothers and allow male-dominated merchant houses to gain in influence. »

  • Marpenoth 20 A slave rebellion is put down in Menzoberranzan. »

  • Uktar 15 Kannyr Vhok the Sceptered One, leads the Scoured Legion in a siege against Menzoberranzan with the secret backing of the Jaezred Chaulssin. »

  • 1373 DR [Year of Rogue Dragons]

  • Ches 30 The Scoured Legion withdraws its troops, and the siege of Menzoberranzan ends. »
