    A splinter tribe of the ancient Durpari traveled northeast to settle in the fertile basin of the Raurin Plateau (which later becomes the Raurin Desert). These tribes folk called themselves Imaskari. They lived in tribal communities ruled by chiefs and the warrior aristocracy. The spread of agriculture during this time led to a rising population and the founding of the many farming villages on the plateau. »

  • Horus slays Lord Artificer Yuvaraj, Emperor of Imaskar. Inupras falls, marking the end of the Imaskar Empire. The devastation wrought in the empire's fall turns the site into the Raurin Desert. »

  • Early boats sail the surface of the Inner Sea around the southern Alamber. Easily attacked and sunk by sahuagin, these boats are small and usable only for coastal fishing, not exploration. Raurinese refugees continue their expansions overland. »

  • c. -1500 DR
  • Mulhorandi expansion results in the settlement of the Priador and annexation of Murghom, the Plains of Purple Dust, and the Raurin Desert.

    Untheric expansion results in the settlement of the Wizard's Reach and much of the Eastern Shaar. »

  • The immortal Chih Shih leads a revolt against Tan Chin and drives the emperor from Kuo Meilan, ending the Second Age of Shou Lung. Fleeing to Raurin, Tan Chin begins searching for lost Imaskari artifacts. »

  • 128 DR [Year of the Addled Arcanist]
  • The Raurinese wizard Hilather, after millennia trapped in temporal stasis, begins to explore Faerun. He is hired by the Imperial Court to develop a more secure means of binding fiends to the will of their summoners. He establishes himself in an abandoned tower in the remote emirates of Torsil, which lies along the Sword Coast between the Cloud Peaks and Candlekeep. »

  • 875 DR [Year of the Stricken Star]
  • Algashon coerces Sammaster to attack Alustriel, intending to steal her silver fire through a vile ceremony while she was at a disadvantage. However, Alustriel called on Elminster and Laeral, and together the three Chosen killed Sammaster. Azuth then appears and strips Sammaster's body of its silver fire. After they depart, Algashon resurrects Sammaster who is now quietly mad but still blessed with long life and the ability to heal quickly.

    In the years that follow, Sammaster draws on his own translation of Maglas's prophecy, Algashon's whisperings, and ancient tomes unearthed from ruins beneath the Anauroch and Raurin deserts. Sammaster and Algashon founded the first Dragon Cult cell in the city of Chondathan (now the Sembian city of Saerloon) and set about creating all manner of draconic undead. »
