  • The elf armies of the Coronals Tannivh of Cormanthyr and Connak of Rystall Wood finally break the greater defenses of the Twisted Tower (near present-day Shadowdale) and destroy all remaining drow slavers within the tower. The tower is left in the hands of good dark elf allies, and it is a great temple to Eilistraee within a century. The Soldier's Blade is lost during this great battle, captured by the drow in their slaying of Lord Orym Hawksong during the fall of the Twisted Tower. The blade and the body of Lord Orym are taken down into the Underdark as spoils of war by the fleeing drow. »

  • 194 DR [Year of the Coiling Smoke]
  • The Shadowdale temple of Eilistraee and its good dark elves are slaughtered by a new infestation of drow from below. The temple is restored as the Twisted Tower. »

  • 479 DR [Year of Forestsfrost]
  • Teshar falls in this year to raids and assaults from the drow of the Twisted Tower in present-day Shadowdale. »

  • 834 DR [Year of the Leaping Lion]
  • Castle Greatstead (Grimstead) is built on the outskirts of Shadowdale. »

  • 851 DR [Year of the Jasmal Blade]
  • Our Lady of Mysteries appears to Sammaster, they dally, and the Goddess of Magic offers to make the archmage one of her Chosen. It seems that Mystra has foreseen the death of a Chosen, and Sammaster is to be her replacement (probably Sylune). Sammaster meets with the Sage of Shadowdale, Elminster, and learns how to use and control his Chosen powers, including silver fire. »

  • Castle Grimstead, outside Shadowdale, is destroyed by drow. »

  • 906 DR [Year of the Plough]
  • Driving the drow from the Twisted Tower, Cormyte agents seize the Ashaba Valley and name the area Shadowdale. »

  • 940 DR [Year of the Cold Claws]
  • Facing death, the elderly and infirm first human lord of Shadowdale, the water wizard Ashaba, merges with the river that bears his name, seeking to live on as part of the land he loves. His sentience is said to survive in the flowing waters and aid those who know how to call on him. »

  • 1038 DR [Year of Spreading Spring]
  • Aencar Burlisk begins his campaign to make himself the King of the Dales. He persuads some to join his cause, such as Tasseldale and Shadowdale, and against the others he struck swiftly and surely, putting members of the Mailed Mantle in seats of power across the Dales.

    Aencar rules the majority of the Dales for six more years, and he rules them as masterfully as he ruled Battledale in his previous years. Aencar earns the title of "The Mantled King" as a result of his wearing a red hood and mask. He wore these items to hide a rotting disease that an enemy wizard had cursed him with. »

  • 1222 DR [Year of the Horn]
  • The Harpstar Wars end, and the surviving Harper veterans who return to Faerun find the organization under the sway of the self-styled Harper King, the lich Thavverdasz, and also in conflict with the Cult of the Dragon. The final battles see the death of the Harper King at the hands of Szass Tam, Zulkir of Thay, who is in turn defeated by Elminster of Shadowdale, bringing the Harpers into conflict with Thay for the first time. »

  • Joadath of Shadowdale dies. Aumry Obarskyr and Sylune Silverhand become Lord and Lady of Shadowdale »

  • Aumry Obarskyr is assassinated by Zhentarim agents. His assassins are captured and killed by Jyordhan (who was also a Zhent agent).

    Jyordhan becomes lord of Shadowdale and moves the seat of power from the Twisted Tower of Ashaba to Castle Krag. »

  • 1345 DR [Year of the Saddle]
  • Jyordan, the lord of Shadowdale is slain by Khelben Arunsun. Jyordan had nominated Lyran Nanther of Melvaunt as his successor, but Lyran did not possess the Pendant of Ashaba to properly claim rule of Shadowdale. Thus begins the time of No Lords in Shadowdale. »

  • 1348 DR [Year of the Spur]
  • Khelben gives the Pendant of Ashaba to the Knights of Myth Drannor. Doust Sulwood is chosen to be the next Lord of Shadowdale. »

  • 1350 DR [Year of the Morningstar]
  • Elminster Aumar retires to Shadowdale. »

  • 1353 DR [Year of the Arch]
  • Doust Sulwood retires to Arabel. Mourngrym Amcathra becomes Lord of Shadwodale. »
