  • Fall of Calim's Rule
    Lands east of the Calim Desert and south of the Marching Mountains become the human nation of Coramshan after the humans win a rebellion (with the aid of the dwarves) against surviving minor genies. Calimport and Keltar are rebuilt. The alliance between the humans and dwarves quickly founders, however, because the rulers of Coramshan soon turn to the worship of evil gods. »

  • Human nomads start to roam the Shaar in numbers. Trade with the gold dwarves of the Great Rift begins. »

  • The Ataman of Imir and his dao followers are forced to abandon their cavern holdings in the face of repeated assaults from the dwarves of Shanatar. This region becomes known as the Dao Delvings. »

    King Adiir Velm of House Axemarch leads 5000 dwarves onto the plains of former Memnonnar (north of the Marching Mountains) as their own and founds the realm of High Shanatar. Over the next few centuries they settle the lands now considered Tethyr. »

  • The dwarves of Shanatar build the Axe and the Star Bridges in present-day Amn. »

  • c. -5400 DR

  • Ambril's Bane
    Dwarves kill human tomb robbers on the slopes of Mount Kellarak, including the heir to the throne of Coramshan. This incident precipitates three millennia of war with the humans of Coramshan. »

  • -5350 DR

  • Battle of Karlyn's Vale
    The dwarves of Shanatar slaughter the last major giant tribes of the south (including the giant realm of Nedeheim). Later, monstrous likeness of Karlyn, the warleader of the dwarves, is built over the course of two centuries to honor him. »

  • The murabar (warlord-ruler) of Coramshan seizes much of southern High Shanatar (including Iltakar, home of the modern-day ruins of Shoonarch), while dwarf armies fight the Giant Wars to the north. »

  • A monument to Karlyn of House Kuldevar of High Shanatar is completed after decades of construction. This monument is later known as the Wailing Dwarf. »

  • The dwarf realm of Oghrann (the first colony from Shanatar) is established beneath the Plains of Tun. Few dwarves remain in this realm, and most continue north. »

  • Clash at Earthrift
    Two elven princes are accidentally killed in a dwarven-instigated landslide, and the alliance between the elves of Keltormir and the dwarves of Shanatar falls apart. »

  • The coastal dwarf realm of Haunghdannar is established along the northern Sword Coast centered in the mountains east of present-day Leilon. It was the home of the only known seafarring dwarves. »

  • -4819 DR

  • Gharraghaur is founded by the dwarf royal house Helm near present-day Mirabar. »

  • c. -4700 DR

  • Eaerlann rises among the ruins of Aryvandaar due to the efforts of young elven nobels from Sharrven. Their interests in restoring the elder realm while also allying with the dwarves of the North were matched in the interests of the Elders of Sharrven and Evereska to preventing the elves of Siluvanede from doing the same and repeating the same mistakes of the past. »

  • -4420 DR

  • The surface dwarven realm of Besilmer is founded by Torhild Flametongue. The dwarves of Besilmer build the Halls of the Hunting Axe, the Hall of Four Ghosts, Hammer Hall, the building now known as the Stronghold of the Nine, the Stone Bridge, and are believed to have also built Southkrypt. Besilmer crombles when Torhild is slain, and its people flee south to join the Fallen Kingdom. »

  • The shield dwarf realm of Ammarindar is established beneath the Greypeak Mountains. »

  • Fall of the dwarf realm of Besilmer to attacks by humanoids and giants. Surviving dwarves flee south to form the dwarven realm of Dardath beneath the Horn Hills. »
